Welcome to Oaklyn Public School!
In the middle of the Borough of Oaklyn, a town of about 4,000 residents, sits the Oaklyn Public School. Today, this historic school building that was constructed in 1926 serves about 290 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Oaklyn has been described by our residents as a small town with a close-knit community feel.
The entire Oaklyn staff is dedicated to life-long learning. Each year, our school district provides high quality, sustained professional development through which our teachers can improve their craft. Through these workshops, Oaklyn staff members gain the skills necessary to address our students’ social, emotional and academic needs.
In addition to implementing curriculum and programs that are revised annually and aligned to the state standards, some of the extra academic services available to our students include Gifted and Talented/STEM, ESL, Basic Skills and Response to Intervention. We also have an on-site Child Study Team (CST). Our CST offers special needs students the support they require in order to be successful.
A few key organizations that are very active within our district include our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the Oaklyn Municipal Alliance Youth Services Commission (OMAYSC) and the Oaklyn Education Foundation (OEF). These groups volunteer their time in order to make a difference in the lives of our students by providing things such as extracurricular activities, assemblies, teacher grants, and student scholarships. We appreciate the consistent support these organizations offer our district.
As the Oaklyn School Principal, my goal is to provide a learning environment where students feel safe, receive the best education possible, and gain a feeling of belonging to our school as well as the larger community. I believe all children are capable of learning and succeeding when given the proper tools and support to do so. I am confident this goal will be easy to accomplish due to the devotion and dedication displayed by our Oaklyn families, teachers, administrators, Board of Education members and many other local agencies.
